Molly’s performance for the Oscars was on the preshow, not the actual show as they had done in years past, and I did not watch or record the preshow. Thankfully, her performance for the Oscars was posted on YouTube, and I felt the full force of the lightning strike, but there was more. Within the following week, I would heal and let go of the pain and hurt I had been carrying around and become overwhelmed with love, admiration, and respect from the honesty, strength, courage, and resolve I felt Molly showed in her interview about owning her own story. I was overwhelmed with feelings and a renewed sense of belief in the human spirit. While I sent my love, respect, and admiration to Molly in that letter, mailing it was my prayer, acknowledgment, and humble thank you to the universe for reminding me that life was meant to be lived.
Worried I might be led down some rabbit hole, chasing a mirage, I needed to understand more. In writing her the letter, it became clear that I needed to be reminded that I could feel again and was allowed to. I was beyond thankful because this was about inspiration, not an infatuation. Purpose is the reason for the journey; Passion is the fire that lights the way, and Inspiration is the spark that ignites both. I would rather live with my eyes open than pretend to be asleep, and it was only in looking back that I understood the method to its madness, opening more than my eyes to see with greater clarity.
The universe had been slowly and subtly removing pieces of the veil to clear my vision and allowing me to learn, grow, and heal from things I did not realize were an irritation still hidden beneath the skin. I was living life but felt as though I was really going through the motions and existing in it, waiting for something to happen instead of making it happen. Too often, our focus and attention may seem more about the never-ending quest to build a life instead of living one. We should earn a living but not at the expense of living life. Easier said than done, and we cannot force someone to hear a message they are not ready to receive, but the universe knows us better than we know ourselves, and no matter what we want or how impatient we can be, the seed that had been planted, needs water, sunlight and time before we fully understand the process that the universe has undertaken.
Inspiration can come from anyone, anywhere, and happen at any time, moving us in a way that may seem unimaginable. It is the key that reaches for and touches our hearts first to start our movement by providing us with a purpose, passion, and drive. If you can figure out what it is or about that person, place, or thing you feel inspired by, then you can use that to improve your life. The healing journey you undertake may just be the inspiration another needs to unleash the warrior within them to rise above and live the life they were meant to. When we are not seeking something as an object, it finds its way to us. While happiness is not the purpose of life, it is possible that it can be a beautiful by-product.
Do not get lost or dismiss the message because it does not match your expectations of how it is supposed to be packaged. To discover or understand your path, passion, and purpose in life, pay attention to the positive things you are naturally drawn to and recognize that the negative is meant to warn you. We need the hope, faith, and love in ourselves to believe that we can and the courage, strength, and resolve to take that first step in our heart's direction. Do not allow your comfort zone keep you from expanding your world.
What became clear was that many things helped open more than my eyes, preparing me for the next steps, which inspired me in other ways as a puzzle piece found its place. I was always working on building a life but never really living one. I allowed a mirage to dictate what the destination was instead of enjoying the journey. A quote that changed my perspective on relationships is, “Be the adult you needed as a child.” As I looked back, I realized some minor irritations were hidden just below the skin's surface because I could not find the right words to connect the puzzle piece to help me understand the overall picture. This reflection can help us move beyond what we think we know and move us forward by not carrying around a misunderstanding or incorrect presumption.
As I wrote Dear Molly, reflecting on all the things that were coming to light, I came to understand more about the kind of relationship I wanted to be in with a potential significant other. The desire, want and need would require a deep energy connection, allowing us to nourish each other's mental, emotional, and spiritual states that increase our level of intimacy beyond the physical. When we look for something as an object, it will elude us, so no matter what may be on the horizon or just beyond it, I am not going to wait for life to find me. I am living every moment as best I can, venturing out and experiencing more of this thing called life, like I did last year by flying out to California to get the tattoo I wanted. I am keeping more than my eyes open as I listen to the push and pull of the universe, open to all that life has to offer, especially if that allows me to break free of my comfort zone. I hope more than your eyes will be open as you read Dear Molly and allow your light to shine by being the candle that spreads the light or the mirror that reflects it.
